Journalism can never be silent

Written by a 20-something aspiring political and community journalist, this blog will be filled with little bits and pieces that I find newsworthy with my occassional piece of writing. Inbox me if you have any questions/topics that I should answer/look into.

As citizens are participating in documenting news footage around the world, YouTube launched a new feature that allows users to blur faces in a video before uploading it.

The feature aims to provide anonymity in political, human rights or news videos, as well as ensure privacy of the subjects.

YouTube is among the first to provide the option as according to the international human rights organization WITNESS’ Cameras Everywhere report, “No video-sharing site or hardware manufacturer currently offers the option to blur faces or protect identity.

The emerging technology is a definitely an advantage to the platform’s users to document more stories while ensuring anonymity and privacy.
